It breached police protocol

Australian police have landed in hot water over a ‘fake arrest’ photo posted by Lily Allen on her Instagram page.

The spoof image shows Lily kneeling on the ground with her head bowed down as a police officer holds her in handcuffs.

When Lily shared the photo with her 500k Instagram & 4.7million Twitter followers, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said that the officers had breached protocol and is now facing an “internal investigation.”

“On July 27, Lily Allen was escorted by AFP members whilst transitting through Coolangatta airport at her request," a police spokesperson said.

“Ms Allen requested a photo op so AFP members placed open handcuffs on her and posed for a photo which breached standard protocols.

“Ms Allen has NOT been arrested and is NOT being investigated.

“The AFP members are subject to internal measures.”

The image was taken when Lily arrived in the Gold Coast on Sunday (27th July) for her appearance at Splendour in the Grass festival.

Lily has now removed the image from Instagram and Twitter.

Earlier this morning, Lily posted this photo of herself wearing a koala hat along with the caption: “Bye bye Australia, I am very much looking forward to my 13 hr. Sleep to LA #straightthrucru.”
