British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton got a shock at Sunday's Men's Singles Wimbledon final when he found out that having his name on the list for the Royal Box wasn't enough, as he was missing an essential item...a suit and tie.

The sports star had instead chosen a floral shirt and hat for the event.

Hamilton had earlier in the day posted pictures about his excitement at being invited to the Royal Box to watch.

However the floral shirt and hat he'd chosen for the event fell foul of the official suit and tie dresscode and he wasn't allowed in to watch. His spokesperson said: "Due to a misunderstanding over dress code, he is disappointed to have missed the final."

The Men's Singles final was a star-studded event as celebrities flocked to watch Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in four sets to win Sunday's climax.

Clive Owen and Titanic actress Kate Winslett watched on.

Pippa Middleton was there to watch on Centre Court.

Sir Alex Ferguson looked happy as he watched the final.

British actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Grant talked and laughed along during the match.

One sports star who did make it was Thierry Henry.

Unlucky Lewis, maybe next time!
