Celebrities from across the showbiz world have taken to social media to praise Caitlyn Jenner following the reveal of her stunning Vanity Fair cover.

Shot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, the Vanity Fair cover shows Caitlyn, who used to be known as Bruce Jenner, as a transgender woman. It was also the first time Caitlyn’s name was revealed to the world.

Testament to the impact of the photo shoot, Caitlyn’s newly launched Twitter account amassed one million followers in four hours – smashing Barack Obama’s record of a million in five hours set just two weeks ago.

Among those first to congratulate Caitlyn on Twitter was her daughter Kendall Jenner and stepdaughters Kim and Khloe Kardashian.

Khloe wrote: “We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it! I couldn't be prouder!!! Caitlyn, You are beautiful!!!”

Echoing these sentiments, Kim tweeted: “Caitlyn Jenner for Vanity Fair! Annie Leibovitz! How beautiful! Be happy, be proud, live life YOUR way!”

Keeping her comment simple yet powerfully poignant, Caitlyn’s daughter Kendall said: “be free now pretty bird.”

Other celebrities who have praised Caitlyn’s cover shoot include Lady Gaga, Lena Dunham, Anna Kendrick, Mia Farrow, Ellen DeGeneres and Jenny McCarthy. See their responses here:
