Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn has hit back at rumours that she locked lips with her co-star Sean Ward at last week's National Television Awards. The 25-year-old, who plays Sinead Tinker on the soap, was reported to have kissed Sean, who formerly played villain Callum Logan and was killed off in 2015.

Katie, who split up with her boyfriend just days after the NTAs last week, was reported to have kissed Sean at the event, with an eyewitness saying that they'd "been getting close all night."

However, Katie has now taken to Twitter to rubbish the rumours in a sassy tweet, writing, 'It’s a shame when someone sees two old mates catching up at a party & decides to tell lies to a newspaper🧐🙄😴.'

She also added the hashtags '#getyourfactsright', '#lies' and '#nottrue' to the tweet, which has had over 200 likes since it was posted.

Fans rushed to back Katie, with many writing that messages of support, and one even joked, 'I wouldn't say no though, he's a right sort!'

This comes less than a week after Katie split from Benji Roberts, who she'd been with since the summer of 2017. A source revealed that the pair had been "really smitten" over each other after they first met, and even had a bit of a "whirlwind romance" in the beginning.

Sadly, things their relationship "fizzle out" towards the end of last year and they decided to split. Thankfully, it was "amicable" and they are "still friends", with Katie choosing instead to focus on her huge Corrie storyline.
