Kanye West becomes a Doctor!
Multi Grammy winning rapper, Kanye West, has been awarded an honorary doctorate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
The Commencement Ceremony in Chicago’s historic Auditorium Theatre was held on Monday 11th May, where the rapper was recognised for his "transformative, genre-defying work".
During his acceptance speech Kanye said, "I am a pop artist. So my medium is public opinion and the world is my canvas."
Kanye, who 10 years ago said George Bush didn't care about black people continued, “George Bush, has some very cool self portraits. I didn’t know he was an artist.”
The Art Institute of Chicago said they had decided to honour Kanye after a member of staff heard Kanye had always wished he had attended the institute.
The rapper who grew up in Chicago dropped out of university at the age of 20, however this didn't stop him eventually releasing his debut album in 2004 called 'The College Dropout'.
