It's hitting him hard

Harry Styles broke down in tears on stage in Jakarta last night just hours after it was announced Zayn Malik had quit the band.

Millions of hearts were broken across the globe yesterday when One Direction and Zayn sensationally confirmed they were parting company after five years together.

And it seems the split had a huge impact on Zayn’s good friend and former band mate Harry who couldn’t hold back the emotion on stage in Jakarta.

The band were midway through their set Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on the latest leg of their On the Road Again Tour when Harry started crying and dabbing his eyes while Niall, Liam and Louis continued to sing.

Announcing his departure from One Direction yesterday, Zayn said: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.

“I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.

“I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."

One Direction confirmed they will continue as a four-piece without him and will honour their upcoming UK tour dates. They will also record their fifth album this summer ahead of its autumn release.

Zayn’s bombshell yesterday came six days after he left 1D’s tour of the Far East due to stress.

The final straw seemed to be when various tabloids published photos of Zayn holding hands with a woman in the Thailand.

Defending himself and his relationship with fiancée Perrie Edwards, Zayn said: "I'm 22 years old ... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous f***s in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like x"

One Direction’s tour continues in Johannesburg on Saturday before coming to the UK in June for their huge shows in Cardiff Millennium Stadium.
