Goonies Sequel In The Works!

Director Richard Donner hopes to draft in the original cast

Published 7th Apr 2014

Almost three decades after the original Goonies movie hit cinema screens, it’s been announced that a sequel is in the pipeline.

Director of the original Goonies movie, Richard Donner, was asked by TMZ whether he was tempted to do another comic book sequel having directed Superman and produced the X-Men movie series.

He responded: "If you call Goonies a comic book, we're doing a sequel."

Asked if any of the original stars like Sean Astin and Corey Feldman were going to return, Donner tantalisingly said: "Hopefully all of them."

No other details or a movie title has been revealed so we’ll wait with bated breath for the next snippet of information.

Written by Steven Spielberg, The Goonies achieved moderate success at the Box Office when it was released in June 1985 but swiftly became a cult classic when it came out on VHS and Betamax.

83-year-old Richard Donner’s other movie credits include The Omen, Scrooged, all four Lethal Weapon movies and Conspiracy Theory.
