GBBO star Rav Bansal reveals he’s been racially abused for appearing on the show
Rav has received support from viewers of the show
Viewers may be hooked on the new series of The Great British Bake Off but one of the current contestants, Rav Bansal, has revealed he has been racially abused for appearing on the show.
The hopeful has taken to Twitter to reveal he was targeted by trolls during his appearance on the show.
He wrote ‘So today I was asked ‘are you a p*ki on the not so British bake off? Really in 2016?’
After venting his frustration at the matter, the 28-year-old received an unbelievable amount of support from shocked fans, who told Rav to ‘ignore’ the comments.
Rav was quick to show his appreciation to his followers and sent out a message of thanks saying 'Thank you for all your kind messages, I am fine. Honestly. It’s Friday and the weekend is in touching distance, all good!’
Rav isn’t the first Bake Off contestant to receive abuse over his religion. Last year’s winner Nadiya Hussain has previously admitted she has been the victim of abuse and even revealed she ‘expects it now’.
Speaking on Loose Women, 31-year-old Nadiya opened up to the panel about the negative abuse she received on Twitter, stating "There was a lot of negativity on Twitter; I tried really hard not to look at it".
