The new series of popular dancing show Strictly Come Dancing is shaping up to be a good one as the fifth confirmed contestant has been announced as KISS FM DJ Melvin Odoom.

Best known for his bubbly personality on KISS FM’s breakfast show alongside Ricky Haywood Williams and Charlie Hedges, Melvin will be hoping to dance his way to the final when the new series kicks off next month.

Speaking on the KISS FM breakfast show on Friday morning, Melvin exclusively revealed he is joining the show and said “It’s something that I’ve wanted to do secretly for a few years now. Later taking to Twitter, Melvin shared the news with his fans saying “I am proud to announce I will be a contestant on @bbcstrictly 2016!’ Accompanying his tweet with a video of his dance moves he added ‘I might need a few more moves though…’

Radio station KISS FM also shared the news on their Twitter account.

As well as his DJ role, Melvin has also appeared on popular TV show’s such as Sweat the Small Stuff, The Xtra Factor and most recently ITV quiz show Bang On The Money which he presented alongside fellow radio presenter Ricky Haywood Williams.

Melvin joins an already confirmed line-up including Laura Whitmore, Will Young, Ed Balls and sports presenter Ore Oduba.

The show is expected to start in September.
