Eddie Redmayne, star of 'The Theory of Everything', the Stephen Hawking biopic and winner of numerous awards for his role, has reportedly been offered the lead role in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', a Harry Potter spin-off.

According to Variety Eddie was the first choice for the lead role of Newt Scamander, but he wanted to read the full script before agreeing. It is believed that he has now read the script and is ready to get involved.

If Eddie does get the role then he'll be busy for the next few years as 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is planned to be a trilogy of films with JK Rowling doing the screenwriting as well as having written the book (back in 2001). Shooting is planned for later this year with a release date planned for next year.

Eddie who is 33 told our reporter Lydia what it was like to play someone a lot younger than his age.
