You could be forgiven for thinking that we've got mixed up between Star Wars and easyJet, but the budget airline has announced it will be trialling wearable technology uniforms for its cabin crew and engineers.

For this latest innovation easyJet have teamed up with CuteCircuit who have worked with many celebrities including Katy Perry, U2 and Nicole Scherzinger to produce the new uniforms for the airline.

The cabin crew uniforms include LEDs which can provide additional lighting in an emergency, information about the flight (numbers and destinations) and built in microphones for easier communication between the crew, pilots and passengers.

The engineer uniforms include LEDs in the jacket hoods to light up the work areas and also have built-in video cameras, an air quality sensor and barometer!

Tina Milton, Head of Cabin Crew for easyJet, said, "Our crew’s primary concern is for the safety of all passengers so it is really exciting to be working on this pioneering new technology which could transform the capability of our uniforms"

While easyJet's Engineering Director said, “With features like the LED hood and video streaming and communications capability these amazing designs offer very practical solutions for engineers working on the ramp whilst enhancing safety at the same time.”

easyJet will start wearable tech uniform trials early in 2016.
