American rock band Eagles of Death Metal have paid tribute to everyone who was affected in the Paris attacks.

It’s reported 89 people were killed and 99 people injured on Friday when gunmen opened fire at the Bataclan theatre where the band were performing live.

On Facebook the band - formed by Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and Jesse Hughes - said while they were home safe they’re ‘horrified’ after the attack, adding that they’re ‘still trying to come to terms’ with it.

They paid tribute to all the lives lost - including crew members. “Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones.

They added “although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.

The band also confirmed all shows have been put on hold for now and the message ended saying ‘long live music, long live freedom, long live France and Eagles of Death Metal'.

Fans are campaigning to get the band's cover of Duran Duran’s ‘Save a Prayer’ to number one in memory of the attack.
