Danny Boyle has confirmed the sequel to 'Trainspotting' will happen once its four lead actors can co-ordinate schedules.

The director revealed back in March 2013 that he was working on 'Trainspotting 2' - originally titled 'Porno' by novelist Irvine Welsh - and confirmed that John Hodge, Trainspotting's original screenwriter, would be working on the script.

Little has been heard since then, until Ewan McGregor said in June that he "would be up for" starring in it.

Now Boyle has confirmed to Deadline that the sequel will happen and is simply a matter of timing: "All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series."

The announcement will no doubt excite fans of the 1996 original, which received critical acclaim and is widely regarded as one of the greatest British films of all time.
