Daft Driver Thinks Adele Song Is Fire Warning

He claims 'Set Fire To The Rain' made him pull over

A daft motorist thought his car was ablaze when Adele’s anthem ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ came onto his stereo.

The driver pulled over onto the hard shoulder when he saw the word “Fire” on his dashboard display – however, it turned out the dashboard was only displaying the name of the Adele song he was listening to.

It is illegal to stop on a hard shoulder on UK roads if there is no emergency.

As revealed by the Highways Agency, the Adele song is just one of the weird excuses drivers have given for pulling over.

Other excuses included grandparents who pulled over to take photos of their grandchild “because it was a lovely day” and a driver who stopped to pick up flowers from the roadside.

Altogether, 2,062 drivers stopped on a motorway hard shoulder between July and September 2013 in cases not classed as an emergency.

In other Adele news, the singer won a five-figure damages sum yesterday from photo agency Corbis Images UK Limited after they took photos of her son Angelo.

Adele’s solicitor Jenny Afia said: "It is a matter of profound sadness that many of his milestone moments, such as his first family outing and his first trip to playgroup, were photographed and published worldwide expressly against his family's wishes.

"These images were taken during private, recreational time unconnected with professional or public engagements. They represent a clear infringement of our client's right to privacy."
