They met way back in 2007, but now Emmerdale stars Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Harrogate.

OK! Magazine are reporting that none of the couple's guests knew they were attending a wedding, instead the pair had told them the party was for Charley's 30th birthday.

Speaking about the surprise element, Matthew said, "We couldn’t have had a better response. People just screamed for about ten minutes!

"It’s funny to think that our guests thought they were coming to Charley’s 30th party – then we told them it was our wedding! It wasn’t the most traditional wedding, but we wanted it to be different."

Speaking to OK! magazine about the big day, Charley added, "That moment when we announced what we were doing and seeing everybody’s reaction is the best moment of my life.

"This way we got to do it totally the way we wanted – it wasn’t traditional, we didn’t have a sit-down meal and there weren’t loads of speeches. Someone once told me their friend had a surprise wedding and it stuck in my mind."
