Stars including One Direction, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran recorded a cover of the 1984 song ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ on Saturday to raise money for Ebola in Africa, where 2.5million people have already been affected by the virus.

Other artists taking part included Emeli Sande, Ellie Goulding, Chris Martin, Elbow, Seal, Jessie Ware, Fuse ODG, Sinead O'Connor, Angelique Kidjo, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Queen drummer Roger Taylor, Clean Bandit, Foals and Bono, who also featured in the original version.

Bob Geldof and co-writer Midge Ure’s first Band Aid single raised £8 million for famine in Ethiopia. Some of the lyrics have been changed for this year’s version to focus on the disease devastating Africa.
