Bad news ladies, Benedict Cumberbatch is officially off the market!
The Sherlock actor has posted a brief notice in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times today confirming he’s engaged to 36-year-old Oxford graduate Sophie Hunter.
It reads:
It’s reported that Benedict flew to Edinburgh to ask Sophie’s mother for permission to marry her daughter recently.
Although the engagement has been confirmed by Benedict’s representatives, the wedding date has not been revealed.
Benedict and Sophie, a theatre director and actor, were first spotted together in public at The French Open back in June.
He split with fashion designer Anna Jones after a two-year romance in 2012. He previously dated screenwriter Olivia Poulet for a decade.
