Artist had the best comeback when Sainsbury's advertised for unpaid role

People didn't take kindly to the advert

An artist had the best response to supermarket Sainsbury's when they advertised for a local artist in a newspaper.

The branch in Camden were looking for an artist to 'voluntarily' re-furbish their canteen, reassuring the applicant it could 'build your career and develop your reputation'.

Understandably, people on Twitter weren't too impressed that such a huge company weren't willing to pay for it.

Instead, one artist had her own response to it and re-worded the article.

It said 'Artists are looking for a well-stocked supermarket to voluntarily restock our kitchens. Gain particular experience in the good industry whilst satisfying our need to feed ourselves and live comfortably...

'By crafting food into a reality for artists, you are recreating what is originally a basic human right to survive on our sought-after skillsets. The new delivery should give artists an atmosphere to look forward to and emphasise on the idea that they don’t have to work on an empty stomach...'

After seeing the great response, one Twitter user shared it to the world.

Since then, a spokesperson for the company reportedly apologised, telling Buzzfeed “It is not our policy to hire volunteers and we are sorry for this error of judgement.”
