Andy Serkis has exclusively told us that he’s the mysterious voice behind the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

The first teaser for the seventh instalment of the Star Wars saga premiered last Friday and opened with a ominously deep voice saying “There has been an awakening, have you felt it?”

Since then there has been an explosion of speculation about who the voice is including Benedict Cumberbatch and Adam Driver.

However, speaking to Entertainment NOW! at The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies premiere in London last night, Serkis confirmed it was indeed him!

When told of the raging Cumberbatch speculation, Serkis laughed: “I’m sure Benedict doesn’t need any more attention at the moment!”

Although he made the revelation about the voice, Serkis refused to reveal who he’s playing in the eagerly anticipated movie, adding: “I can’t tell you that!”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits cinema screens in a little over a year’s time on 18th December 2015.
