Celebrating Easter at home doesn’t have to feel like a chore this year. With the longer days and warmer weather on the way, there’s lots of family-friendly activities, inspiration and ideas for you to try.
Your family will have a great time together no matter what you get up to together - be that an exhilarating hike up the mountains or even a dip in the sea. Just remember to stay within those all-important government guidelines if you’re seeking a change of scene this Easter.

Picnic in the park
From charming coastal spots, to stunning woodlands and rolling countryside, unpack your picnic hamper and enjoy a sunny day outdoors with friends and family.
Easter egg hunt
If you want to spice things up a little, why not add a fun twist to the traditional Easter egg hunt? You can throw in a few physical challenges, mental puzzles and up the winner’s prize – this might encourage older kids to join in.
Garden craft session
From painting and dying colourful boiled eggs to perhaps the more skilled Easter bonnets and baskets, there’s so many fun DIY craft ideas to complete. Experimenting with natural and recycled materials when crafting is always fun too.
Take a dip
Nothing beats an exhilarating dip into Northern Ireland’s baltic shores, and we've got some great wild swimming spots. If it’s still too chilly for you, why not explore the coastlines rockpools and hunt for buried treasure in the sand – come prepared with golden chocolate coins for kids to find.
Hike to find NI’s secret waterfall
Nestled between Ben Crom Reservoir and Hare's Gap you can explore one of the Mourne Mountains hidden waterfalls. The water will be freezing, so if you are keen for a swim, test the temperature before you bomb on in.
Build & bury a lockdown time capsule
This past year has been one for the books, and it’s something we won’t forget in a long time. But why not piece together a few of the family’s favourite games, toys, stories or even handwritten letters, and bury them in a time capsule. In a few years’ time you can dig it back up again and remember what helped you cope throughout the Covid pandemic.

There’s a wide variety of picturesque walks families and couples can enjoy across Northern Ireland. Spring has officially sprung, as the wildflowers and gardens grow, a brisk stroll in the fresh air does wonders for our both physical and mental health.
