Little Orchids Children's Centre

Little Orchids Children’s Centre provides therapeutic intervention and support for over 20 children aged 0-4years.

They cater for children who have a wide variety of specific needs such as physical and medical conditions, Autism and behaviour needs as well as a wide variety of specific needs including speech and language delay, visual and hearing impairments and genetic conditions. Most of the children referred have sensory processing difficulties with concentration, attending to task and learning new skills.

The funding provided by Cash for Kids NI was used to purchase sensory equipment to provide specific sensory experiences throughout the day for the children to provide stimulation, concentration, memory abilities, cause and effect and understanding. These activities have helped strengthen the children’s ability to handle sensory stimuli more appropriately. Staff have observed fewer disruptive behaviors, decreased anxiety and fear and increased awareness of their surrounding world and play skills. Other positive differences include increased participation, increased attention and listening skills and improved concentration.
