Ukraine's own goal was enough to see Wales reach the tournament for the first time since 1958.
Wales boss Rob Page has dedicated their World Cup qualification to late former manager Gary Speed. "Gary Speed started this 12 years ago. He started the culture and there was a difference, there was a change. The environment changed, so I have inherited that."
With Wales captain Gareth Bale saying it's "the greatest result in the country's history". Bale here continued "It's what dreams are made of. It's what we have been working since we first came . I am speechless because we are so happy. Looking forward for our amazing fans across the country. It's hard to describe how we are feeling at the moment."
Their "commitment to the cause carried them over the line" according to defender Ben Davies. "There was a lot of emotion in this game. It felt frantic at times. We stood up to it. We stood up to every challenge they threw at us."
Wales will now play England, USA and Iran when the competition gets underway in Qatar in November.
There were stunning scenes at the Cardiff City Stadium.
