"Forever our 47" said a tweet by the club.

Tributes were paid to the young player on banners above the game.

A 4-all draw with Manchester Storm was their first fixture since the 29-year-old passed away after being cut on the neck by a skate in the game against Sheffield Steelers.

The game was described as 'uplifting and moving' in a tweet by the club.

Panthers say they want to "honour Adam and everything about who he was as a person and a player".

Adam Johnson, who was originally from Minnesota in the USA, signed for Nottingham Panthers in August.
