A large response from emergency services has been declared in Kidderminster as officers try to put out a large fire.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were first alerted to the incident in the early hours of Saturday morning (September 7th).
Officers were seen responding to a large fire that had broken out at a derelict building on Park Lane in the centre of the town.
During the fight to extinguish the fire, representatives from Worcestershire Police were called to help in the emergency response.
Currently, there are no known casualties in regard to the incident, and officers remain at the scene trying to fully extinguish the fire.
In a statement, the fire service said: "Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service currently have 6 firefighting appliances and an aerial ladder platform at Park Road, Kidderminster dealing with a significant fire in a derelict building.
"HWFRS assets have the incident surrounded, however, we would like to advise local residents to keep windows and doors shut whilst there is a smoke plume.
"Our assets have also blocked Park Lane and we would advise motorists members of the public to avoid the area due to traffic congestion."
Residents living close to the area have been advised not to approach the building in case of potential danger.
Councillors in the local area have also urged residents to be cautious in the wake of the fire, asking many to avoid the area where possible.
Councillor Leigh Whitehouse said in a statement: "I’ve been made aware that there’s a fire at what appears to be the old timber yard on Park Lane.
"Emergency services have closed the road and are in the process of dealing with it. Please avoid the area, I will be liaising with emergency services throughout the day and will ensure support is arranged for any affected local people."
