Last updated 28th Apr 2022
A man from Burnley has appeared at Blackburn Magistrates' Court this morning (28th April) accused of murder nearly a week after Katie Kenyon's disappearance.
The 33-year-old mum of two was last seen last Friday getting into a van in the town, which then drove towards the Bolton-by-Bowland area of Lancashire.
Andrew Burfield of Todmorden Road, Burnley has been charged with her murder.
The 50-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the three-minute hearing.
Mr Burfield appeared in the dock dressed in an issued grey tracksuit. The court was told his team made no application for bail and did not indicate a plea.
He'll now appear at Preston crown court tomorrow morning (29th April).
A large team of trained officers from across the North West, plus members of Mountain Rescue and the Fire Service are continuing to search a vast area of Gisburn forest looking for her, or any evidence of what happened to her.
Ms Kenyon is described as white, 5ft 9in, with shoulder-length strawberry blonde/ginger hair.
She was last seen wearing a blue shirt or jacket and white vest top, black leggings and flip flops.
Her family, who say her disappearance is out of character, are being supported by specially trained officers.
