Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald praises striker Kris Doolan

It's after the frontman netted his 100th goal for the club in the 2-1 Premiership victory against Ross County.

Doolan equalised midway through the second half to complete his century of goals for the Jags, after the travelling Staggies had taken the lead against the run of play.

The forward then netted his second of the afternoon with 10 minutes left on the clock to earn a deserved three points for Thistle, who strengthen their hold on sixth spot.

Archibald believes the Thistle number nine is a role model for youngsters wanting to get into the game.

The manager said: ''I'm delighted. I asked him to take responsibility and nobody does it better than Kris.

I think he takes that on himself, probably sometimes too much to get the goals for us but it was a fitting way to do it with two great goals.

He's done brilliantly for us, I can't give him enough accolades.

If any young players want to look at somebody in our club on and off the pitch, nobody does it better than Kris.

You won't hear anyone say a bad word about him and sometimes good guys don't get rewards and thankfully Kris is getting them here.''

Archibald also hailed his team as they came from behind to win the game at Firhill.

He added: ''We weren't at the races in the first half. We were off it and credit to Ross County, they were probably the better side.

I'm delighted with the second half performance. We asked the players to take responsibility and I thought they did that.

Meanwhile Ross County boss Jim McIntyre bemoaned his team's luck as the Staggies' poor form continues.

The Highlanders have only had one league victory in 2017 and are just one point outside of the relegation zone.

County hit the bar on the stroke of half-time while McIntyre feels Thistle should not have been awarded a free-kick in the lead-up to the home side's equaliser.

The manager said: ''Obviously I'm very disappointed. I thought we were the better side first half.

We had a really good chance to score just before half-time and just the way it's been falling for us lately it's cracked off the bar.

We came out second half, I was quite pleased with how it was going. We get the goal. Then we seem to sit back.

I think Thistle's changes definitely helped them but my main gripe is it's not a free-kick for the first goal. Martin Woods clearly gets a touch on it.''
