Motherwell manager Mark McGhee will tell his players that the derby factor could cancel out any difference in form between his side and Hamilton.

Motherwell are aiming for a fourth consecutive Premiership win when they host their Lanarkshire neighbours on Saturday while Accies have lost four in a row.

But Hamilton have had the upper hand in recent derbies, winning five out of six since their promotion, and McGhee knows the visitors will be fired up to maintain local bragging rights.

McGhee said: Form usually goes out the window in derbies because everyone finds that little bit extra. As someone who has played in derbies, Celtic-Rangers, Newcastle-Sunderland, I have played in big, big derbies.

This isn't the biggest derby in the world but we know how important it is to our supporters and we know how important it is to their supporters, and I'll be making sure that message gets across to our players.''
