Motherwell manager Mark McGhee does not expect any business at Fir Park despite Marvin Johnson's transfer request.

Johnson's agent has pleaded with the club to allow the winger to return to England but the only club to have bid so far is Oxford, whose final offer was rejected.

McGhee said: "We don't have an offer for Marvin Johnson other than one that was reported some weeks ago which comes nowhere near our valuation of the player so, no, he won't be going anywhere.''

Oxford manager Michael Appleton admitted a revival of their Johnson interest was "highly unlikely''.

He told the Oxford Mail: "At the end of the day they have a valuation, we have another and we're quite a way apart.''

Morton have rejected Doncaster's bid for forward Jai Quitongo. Reports claimed Rovers had bid #100,000 for the 18-year-old, who has netted three goals this season.

A Morton statement read: "Jai is an individual we feel has a big future in the game. He is considered an important member of our squad for this season's Championship campaign and we will not allow such a player to depart for what we believe to be below his market value.''

Celtic and Rangers could both be busy on deadline day.

The Hoops confirmed the signing of Costa Rica full-back Cristian Gamboa from West Brom on Tuesday, but boss Brendan Rodgers could add further to his squad before midnight with Everton midfielder James McCarthy continuing to be linked with a return to Scotland.

In addition to the £30million jackpot for reaching the group stage of the Champions League, Celtic could have more cash to splash if Jozo Simunovic signs for Torino.

The 22-year-old Croatia defender has travelled to Italy for a medical.

Rangers are on the hunt for a defender. Former Arsenal player Philippe Senderos has been on trial but has yet to finalise a move to the Ibrox club. Like all free agents, he is not constrained by the transfer window.

Elsewhere, St Johnstone are reported to be close to signing Peterborough striker Joe Gormley on loan, while former Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew could be on the move to Blackburn.

Aberdeen have been linked with former Rangers midfielder Jamie Ness, who is now at Scunthorpe, and Norwich midfielder James Maddison.
