Partick right-back Mustapha Dumbuya faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing an Achilles tendon.

The 28-year-old Sierra Leone international suffered the injury at the weekend, ahead of Thistle's return to full pre-season training on Tuesday.

The club have not put a timescale on Dumbuya's recovery but he is likely to face about six months out.

A Partick statement read: "Dumbuya was operated on last night by one of the top surgeons in the UK and, while it is far too early to put any kind of timescale on his recovery, is currently in the best possible hands to aid his return to fitness.

"All at Firhill wish Mustapha the very best and hopefully it will not be too long before he is back in red and yellow.''

Thistle endured a series of injury setbacks in the closing stages of last season but players are well on with their recovery.

Left-back Callum Booth has started running again after foot surgery, while goalkeeper Tomas Cerny (foot), midfielder Abdul Osman (knee surgery) and forward Christie Elliott (groin surgery) are close to full training.

Meanwhile, midfielder Gary Fraser has been working with the ball and will continue to work with the physios following a knee injury.
