Calum Gallagher says he's all set for a "baptism of fire" as he heads back to Ibrox on Friday, three days after leaving for St Mirren.

The winger was told he was surplus to requirements at Rangers and has signed a one year deal at the Paisley side, ahead of Friday's Championship opener between the teams.

Gallagher told Clyde Sport's Gordon Duncan the move can kick-start his career and believes his new club can challenge at the top of the league this season.

Ian Murray's delighted with the signing of the 20-year-old who he believes will bring "plenty of pace and strength" to the Buddies ranks.

Gallagher joins fellow summer recruits Stuart Carswell, Scott Agnew, Paul McMullan, Cameron Howieson and Luke Conlan in Paisley.

The manager says his business isn't done yet and says there could be more incoming players in the next few days.
