Dundee on the up but Paul Hartley targets improvement after draw with Kilmarnock
Dundee remain without a win this year after playing out a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Dens Park.
Dundee manager Paul Hartley watched his side move up three places in the Ladbrokes Premiership table but was still less than happy at the end of the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
Kris Boyd put the visitors ahead early on at Dens Park and although Kevin Holt drew Dundee level before the break, the home side could not find a winner.
Hartley said: We had opportunities to win it but we didn't pass the ball well enough.
They probably had the better possession but we weren't at our best so we'll take a point.
I think the last two games we could have possibly taken six points from them.
Home games are vital for us but we didn't perform like we can, to be honest.''
Hartley highlighted the significance of winning matches such as Saturday's.
He continued: They're the games you need to win, against teams who are roundabout you in the table, if you want to try and get into the top six.
Between six and seven teams, the league is really tight around that area.
Now is about getting points and performances are secondary.
We're six in the league unbeaten at home but I just feel these are the kind of games you have to win.
Between now and the end of the season, the main aim is to try and get three points in every game.
We had an opportunity last week and another this week but we haven't taken either, so maybe that sums our season up.''
Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark said: We started brilliantly and deservedly took the lead.
If there was any slight criticism, we should have been a bit more ruthless in front of goal.
But overall I'm liking the level of our performance.
There are lots of positives. Being hyper-critical, I would say we need to turn these good displays into victories.
The league is crazy at the moment and, because our next game isn't until Sunday, who knows where we'll be by the next time we play?''
