Martin Canning is looking for Hamilton to perform at the double against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday as they bid to stay away from the relegation zone.

Accies have only recorded back-to-back wins in the Premiership twice this season, the last time being in September when they beat Motherwell 1-0 at home and Kilmarnock 2-1 away.

A 2-1 home win over Dundee in their last outing left the Lanarkshire side 12 points ahead of bottom side Dundee United and four ahead of Killie, who are in the relegation play-off spot, with five post-split games remaining.

The Hamilton player-manager said: "It was massive to get the three points against Dundee but every three points is massive between now and the end of the season and we need to make sure we are focused and get as many points as we can.

"Something I would like us to do, something we haven't done in a while, is put together back to back wins.

"The league is so tight and you've seen it with Motherwell, they won three, four, five on the bounce and put themselves fourth in the league.

"It is that tight. So we need to go on a wee run of wins.

"That (beating United) would be one milestone. It would be one step to safety if we can go and win the game. That would put us 15 ahead of them with 12 to play for."
