Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has lost his unfair dismissal claim following his red card at Hamilton last weekend.

Boyata saw his appeal thrown out by a Scottish Football Association-appointed disciplinary tribunal on Thursday.

The Belgian centre-back will now miss the Hoops' Premiership game against Partick Thistle on March 12.

Boyata was shown a straight red card for denying an obvious goalscoring challenge after sliding in on Hamilton forward Carlton Morris at New Douglas Park.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila initially agreed with referee Craig Thomson's decision in the immediate aftermath of the 1-1 draw last Friday night, but changed his mind following further viewing, arguing that the former Manchester City player had got the ball.
