The midfielder was sent off for a first-half challenge on John Guidetti during Thistle's 6-0 League Cup defeat to Celtic last week. Thistle confirmed they had been unsuccessful in their appeal to the Scottish Football Association and that Bannigan would miss Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash at St Mirren Park as well as his next League Cup tie.
