Alan Archibald thrilled by Partick's 5-0 romp over St Mirren at Firhill

Partick boss Alan Archibald hailed his side's performance after an emphatic 5-0 win over St Mirren at Firhill.
Attackers Steven Lawless and Blair Spittal scored doubles and striker Kris Doolan was also on target as Thistle got their Betfred Cup campaign back on track.
Archibald had said before the game that he did not enjoy the cup after seeing his squad depleted by injuries - but he was pleased with the impressive performance despite Abdul Osman's second-half dismissal.
Asked if he changed his feeling about the cup, he joked: “Not really, we have another man down with suspension.
“It was a good performance - you could see the difference having Abdul and Callum Booth back in the side today. It made for a lot of good play.
“I don't know where the performance ranks in my time here but it was very similar to our Championship-winning team when we first got promoted.
“There was a lot of similar play and sometimes it just clicks. Some of the one, two touches were exquisite.”
St Mirren boss Jack Ross admitted his were not good enough as they exited the competition.
Ross said: “We were desperately poor today and I am not going to disguise that in any way. The players have been told that and we now have two weeks to rectify that.
“We didn't do the fundamentals to win a football match. You have to have a desire, commitment and energy about you and we didn't have that.
