We're ready to show we're better than Rangers, says Maribor's Mesanovic
The Slovenian side trail 3-1 going into the second leg
Maribor forward Jasmin Mesanovic says his side are superior to Rangers - and claims they are out to prove it on Thursday night.
Steven Gerrard's Light Blues have travelled to Slovenia with a 3-1 first-leg lead ahead of their Europa League qualifier at the Ljudski Stadion.
But Bosnian striker Mesanovic believes his side have already shown they are a more dangerous outfit than Gers after thrashing domestic rivals Gorica 5-0 at the weekend.
He told the Maribor website: "We know what a tough game is waiting for us. It is very difficult against a strong opponent, but we are ready to go on the pitch and show that we are superior.
"But we need a game with as few errors as possible. We need to be solid in defence as we have been in most games this season.
"And we need to be playful, effective in the attack, which was also already demonstrated that we can do.''
Maribor grabbed what could yet turn out to be a crucial away goal in Glasgow with a stunning Mitja Viler strike before Gers outmuscled them after the break.
Now boss Darko Milanic has warned his men they will have to put on a "perfect'' display for 90 minutes if they are to turn the tie around.
He said: "What I see with the boys is that we can hardly wait for the match. Before us is a great test against a very good opponent.
"It's clear that Rangers are dangerous on the counter-attack. They are very direct, they quickly decide to send the crosses towards the goal. They are aggressive, with and without a ball.
"So when we decide to attack, we cannot be too open and must play with as few errors as possible. When we talk about mistakes, we mention the big ones that cannot happen at this level because this opponent punishes you with such quality.
"We have to be excellent in performance. We have to be perfect if we want to stop our opponents.
"But an important advantage is the Ljudski Stadion. I'm sure our fans will support our desire and aggression and take us forward.'
