Stephen Robinson hails youngster David Turnbull
The 18-year old made his first start for Motherwell in Tuesday's win against Partick Thistle
Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson praised youngster David Turnbull after making his first start for the club in Tuesday's win against Partick Thistle
The midfielder set up the only goal with a free-kick whipped on to the head of Ryan Bowman six yards out.
Turnbull showed skill and confidence on the ball and came close with a deflected effort after gliding past two Thistle players.
The teenager's only other first-team appearance was as a substitute in a cup win over Dundee in February and Robinson wants him to build on his breakthrough.
On the midfielder's performance, Robinson said: "Excellent. Really, really good. David has waited patiently for his chance. It's difficult for a young boy when you see other young boys like James Scott making his debut and it is sometimes dictated by injuries and positions.
"But he certainly gave us a bit of composure on the ball, which we have lacked at times if I'm being honest.
"I thought he was terrific, he just needs to get fitter to play for 90 minutes.
"It was a full debut to be very, very proud of, and something he can go and build on. It's up to him now to cement himself and make sure he's a first-team player for next year.'
