St Mirren have completed the loan signing of Southampton full-back Thierry Small.

The 18-year old joins on a deal until the end of the season.

Small spent the first half of the season on loan at Port Vale and Tottenham had been linked with a permanent move for him.

However, Southampton's preference was to send him out on loan and he will now play in Paisley until the summer.

Stephen Robinson told the club's official website: "Thierry is a young player with lots of pace and lots of energy.

"He gives us another option on that left-hand side at left wing-back. Scott Tanser has played a lot of games with no competition in that area and if he got injured or we needed to change it for any reason we had no option, so it was important we brought someone in.

"He’ll bring us pace, energy, strength and good quality on the ball. We are looking forward to having him in and he’ll certainly add to the squad."

Dundee United striker Tony Watt is also expected to complete a loan move to St Mirren before Tuesday's deadline.

Ethan Erhahon is closing in on a move to Lincoln City while Dylan Reid will join Crystal Palace.
