St Mirren have signed midfielder Liam Donnelly following the expiry of his contract at William Hill Premiership rivals Kilmarnock.

The 29-year-old, who has agreed a two-year deal subject to international clearance, is Saints' fifth summer signing and is reunited with manager Stephen Robinson, who he played under at former club Motherwell.

Robinson said: "I've worked with Liam before and he's a really competitive player.

"Technically, he is very good as well and he gives us options in numerous positions. Liam can play anywhere in the back three, he can play at full-back in a four or he can play as a six or an eight in midfield."

Donnelly progressed through Fulham's academy and had spells at Crawley and Hartlepool before joining Motherwell in 2018.

He moved on to Kilmarnock in 2022 and made 91 appearances in three seasons at Rugby Park.

St Mirren have already signed Killian Phillips, Roland Idowu, Richard King and Jayden Richardson this summer after finishing sixth in the Premiership last season.
