Ross County have signed St Mirren striker Eamonn Brophy on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year old has yet to make a Premiership start for the Buddies this season and has failed to find the back of the net in his 12 substitute appearances.

Brophy signed for the Paisley side two years ago but hasn't been able to replicate his Kilmarnock form that earned him a Scotland cap.

Malky Mackay was keen to add to his attacking options with the Staggies the lowest scorers in this season's Scottish Premiership.

Mackay told the club's official website: “It’s great to bring somebody with Eamonn’s experience to Dingwall. He will be a big asset for us in the second half of the campaign and we know that he can add something different to our group.

“Eamonn is proven at this level and has consistently performed in the Premiership for several years which has also seen him recognised at international level and we are delighted to have him here for the remainder of the campaign.

"Eamonn is also a player I got to know well through his youth caps with Scotland, so I know the qualities he has.”

“I would like to thank Stephen Robinson and Keith Lasley at St Mirren for working with us to make this move happen.”

Manager Stephen Robinson added: "In an ideal world we would have liked to have had Eamonn stay.

"But given he hasn't been playing regularly this is a good opportunity for him to go and get game time and as a club we also have to consider the financial aspects of the deal.

"We wish Eamonn well during his time at Ross County."

St Mirren also announced defender Marcus Fraser has extended his stay at the club.

The 28-year old has made 112 appearances during his time at the SMiSA Stadium and his deal was due to run out this summer.

However, he has now signed a two-year extension that will see him stay in Paisley until 2025.
