St Mirren boss Jack Ross says Lewis Morgan will be a success at Celtic
St Mirren manager Jack Ross believes Lewis Morgan has "everything that he needs" to be a success at Celtic.
The 21-year-old winger's move from the Paisley club to the Scottish champions is expected to be finalised on Friday, after he attended Ross Hall hospital in Glasgow on Thursday for a medical.
Morgan will return to the Ladbrokes Championship leaders on loan for the rest of the season before commencing his Hoops career, and Ross is confident he will make his mark with the treble winners.
The Buddies boss told Press Association Sport: "He is going to have to get used to people passing comment in that respect because it is pretty much par for the course in Scotland that we don't like to talk up our own anyway.
"I know there will be examples of ones that it hasn't worked out for but equally there are ones that have made that jump.
"Having worked with him day in, day out for the last 15 months, I think that he has absolutely everything that he needs.
"He is a tremendously talented young man who works very hard at his game, he is intelligent, very level-headed and also has a strong self-belief.
"There are no guarantees but I think he has every opportunity to go and be successful."
Celtic will reportedly pay around a £300,000 fee for the Scotland Under-21 international, who has scored 13 goals this season, including three in his last two games.
Ross admitted that keeping Morgan at Saints for the rest of the campaign was a "huge pre-requisite" for a deal getting done with any club.
"We could have sold Lewis in the summer and I was quite strong in wanting to keep him," he said.
"I also believe that at that time it wasn't the right move for him and I think he trusted me in that respect, to his credit.
"I was also fortunate that Lewis' desire was always to stay here until the end of the season.
"So without that, it probably wouldn't have got to this stage.
"I am quite fortunate that I have a good relationship with Brendan (Rodgers) so from that side it has been good and obviously Tony Fitzpatrick in his role as chief executive here in his discussions with Peter (Lawwell, Celtic chief executive) has been good.
"It has allowed us to get to a situation which is ideal with us by having him back for the rest of the season.
"That was really important for us so I am delighted and grateful that that is the case.
