St Johnstone have sold midfielder Ali McCann to Preston North End for a seven-figure fee.

The Northern Ireland international has been tracked by many clubs after making an impressive breakthrough at McDiarmid Park.

English Championship side Preston North End have won the race and signed him on a X year deal.

Saints chairman Steve Brown told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard at the end of last season that McCann would not leave for less that their club record sale of £1.75million.

The club claim 'attractive and achievable add-ons' in the deal could see it rise beyond that figure.

McCann came through the youth academy at the Perth side and his stock has been rising after establishing a place in the first team in 2019.

He shone during their European qualifying ties against Galatasaray and LASK Linz early this season.

The 21-year old follows captain Jason Kerr out the door who signed a three-year deal with Wigan Athletic.

Brighton's Lars Dendoncker has joined on a season-long loan as a replacement.

He told the club website: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me.

"Having won both domestic Cups last season, I'm joining St Johnstone on the back of an incredible achievement and I want to go there and create more happy times."

The club have also secured the services of St Mirren midfielder Cammy MacPherson on a season-long loan.
