St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright won't panic just yet
Saints' 1-0 loss at Partick Thistle was their fourth defeat in five league games
St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright is refusing to push the panic button just yet after a 1-0 defeat to Partick Thistle made it four defeats in their last five games.
Miles Storey's individual effort in the first half was the dash of quality that Saints were lacking in the final third as they went over seven hours without scoring a goal.
However, Wright believes they have been through barren spells like this before in his time in charge and have come out the other side better for it.
“We've had these runs year in, year out,” he said. “It happens in this league.
“We're still sixth, which is hard to believe. The quality is there because they have proved it in the past, but it is not allowed to come through because of decision-making and possibly a lack of confidence.
“We've dominated the ball, which is a positive, but ultimately we've lost the game, which is a huge disappointment.”
Meanwhile, Jags boss Alan Archibald praised his side's performance as they moved off the foot of the table and up to 10th after picking up seven points in a week and two clean sheets.
However, he erred on the side of caution with trips to Ibrox and Murrayfield to face Rangers and Hearts coming up next month.
He said: “It gives us a chance to breathe as it gets us off the bottom and gets the confidence up as well with two clean sheets.
“We were a bit disappointed we didn't get three points the other night but it's been a good week.
“We're not out of the woods yet, we've got two tough games in November.”
On Storey's effort, he said: “Miles showed his pace. Sometimes he needs that big pitch in behind him. He showed a great bit of composure to finish it off and I'm delighted for him."
