Scottish clubs have been handed a financial boost in the form of increased Betfred Cup prize money and permission to live-stream group games.

The Scottish Professional Football League announced its prize money would increase by 17 per cent to more than £2.6million.

Clubs will receive a minimum of £20,000 and the winners will take home a record £300,000 prize.

The SPFL confirmed that clubs would be able to live-stream first-round games on a pay-per-view basis as long as they are not being shown by Premier Sports.

The tournament starts on October 6, three weeks after the indicative date for supporters to return to sports grounds, but it remains unclear how many fans will be allowed to attend matches should the go-ahead be given.
