Aberdeen relieved manager Stephen Glass of his duties last Sunday, following a run of form that saw the Dons win just one of their last seven games, rendering them 9th in the Premiership table.

Here we look at six possible candidates to take over at Pittodrie...

Jack Ross

The former Hibernian manager has been linked to the North-East in the past and remains a popular option, given his availability.

His sacking at Hibs was somewhat surprising, given that he had led the club to a 3rd place finish for the first time in 15 years and reached two cup finals.

Ross has further experience at Alloa, St Mirren and Sunderland and has been known for trying to implement an attacking style of play.

Jim Goodwin

The Irishman took part time Alloa into the Championship in 2018 and has drastically improved St Mirren in his two-and-a-half seasons in charge.

He took over a side that were fighting relegation but came close to the top half last season and sees his team currently in 6th place.

St Mirren also reached both cup semi finals last season and are in the quarters this time around, whilst registering famous wins against Celtic and Rangers in 2020.

Derek Adams

The Granite City local has long harboured ambitions to manage his former club and departed League Two side Bradford City on Tuesday.

Adams has a track record of winning, guiding Ross County to two lower league titles and leading them to the 2010 Scottish Cup Final.

He was also successful with Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe, earning promotion to League One with both English teams.

Barry Robson

The 43-year-old has been involved with the Dons youth academy for six years now and is in interim charge of the first team.

He has not disguised his ambition to become the top man one day and a few victories over the next couple of games could enhance his case.

However, many Dons fans will be sceptical over another rookie coach.

Neil Lennon

The former Celtic man leads the way by far in terms of CV with 11 trophies, including five league titles, to his name.

Lennon’s last season in charge of the Hoops was dire but there is no doubt he has vast experience and a winning mentality.

He also managed to promote Hibernian from the Championship which eluded managers before him and is currently on the lookout for work, having just missed out on the Sunderland job.

Kjetil Knutsen

A left-field option sees the club linked with Knutsen, the boss of Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt.

Celtic’s Conference League opponents has never won a title until 2020 but have now scooped two and famously hammered Roma 6-1 a few months ago.

He has previously been linked to Rangers and several Premier League jobs, so pulling this off would be a huge coup for Dave Cormack.

Aberdeen face St Johnstone in the league this evening knowing a victory would see them push back up in to the top half of the table.
