A seven-figure settlement has been agreed for more than 20 legal claims of historical abuse at Celtic Boys Club.

Thompsons Solicitors say around 70 per-cent of claims have now been settled with a small number still in discussions.

Legal action was launched under new Scottish legislation allowing a US-style “class action” lawsuit in 2023.

Celtic have previously claimed Celtic Boys Club was “entirely separate” entity that they were not responsible for, but a club statement following the lawsuit said they would look to settle the cases.

Laura Connor, partner at Thompsons Solicitors, said: “Our clients trusted us to fight for them on these difficult cases and ensure their voices were heard.

“This litigation has been made far more complex and lengthy by the defender, while our clients have acted with resolute dignity throughout.

“At long last they have achieved success and can take this compensation as confirmation that Celtic Boys’ Club was indeed inextricably linked to Celtic Football Club”.
