Scott Booth confident as Glasgow City target Champions League last 16
They take on Somatio Barcelona at Petershill Thursday night
Glasgow City are targeting a return to the last 16 of the Champions League as they take a two-goal lead into Thursday's second leg against Somatio Barcelona.
The 11 in-a-row Scottish champions won 2-0 over in Cyprus to put themselves in a commanding position as they aim to make it past the last 32 for the first time in four years.
Goals from Leanne Crichton and Hayley Lauder secured their first away leg knockout win in the competition since 2011.
Ahead of hosting the Cypriots at Petershill on Thursday, head coach Scott Booth said, "We're all looking forward to the game. It's a massive game for the club and a massive game for the players.
"We've put ourselves in a good position but it's no more than a good position.
"We know the job that we have to do, it's going to be tough but I'm confident that the players - if they like they played in the first leg - we'll make it very very difficult for Somatio".
Winger Hayley Lauder played for Cypriot side Apollon Limassol in 2011, and was delighted with their first leg performance.
She said, “It was a massive performance (in Cyprus). The pitch was huge, it was 32 degrees, and there were a lot of challenging aspects in the game that we dealt with extremely well.
To get that two-goal cushion, I’m really proud of the squad".
Scotland International Leanne Crichton added, “The performance from the team over there was outstanding.
“From every player that was on the pitch and the whole squad, the atmosphere we created knowing how difficult it was going to be against a very tough side. Everyone was 100% on the day".
