Scotland under-21's slip to friendly defeat against Sweden
Scot Gemmill's side lost 2-1 in a friendly in Marbella
Barry Maguire notched his first goal for Scotland Under-21s but the second of a friendly double-header ended in a 2-1 defeat to Sweden at the Marbella Football Centre.
Scot Gemmill made six changes from the goalless draw with Mexico on Friday with Robby McCrorie, Sean Mackie, Jordan Holsgrove, Iain Wilson, Ben House and Mikey Johnston, who had missed a last-gasp penalty against the Mexicans, coming into the starting line-up.
However, they found themselves a goal behind after seven minutes when Felix Beijmo's ball found the unmarked Joel Asoro who headed into the top corner.
Midway through the first half the Scots levelled when Holsgrove's free-kick into the box fell for defender Maguire, on loan at Queen of the South from Motherwell, to nudge over the line.
However, Sweden restored the lead after 37 minutes through Benjamin Mbunga, the Sunderland attacker tapping in after being set up by Beijmo.
Mackie, Daniel Harvie, House and Holsgrove were replaced at the interval by Jake Hastie, Jamie Brandon, Patrick Reading and Fraser Hornby but the Scots, despite plenty of effort, could not find a way through again against a solid Sweden outfit.
