Scotland star Billy Gilmour extends Chelsea contract until 2024

The 21-year-old has 14 caps for Scotland and 22 appearances for Chelsea

Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour has extended his contract at Chelsea until 2024.

Gilmour has become a key component of Steve Clarke's side over the past 12 months and has earned 14 caps.

He was named Player of the Match in the Scots 1-1 draw with England at Wembley in Euro 2020 and has featured in two of the three international games so far this month.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Norwich City, making 28 appearances as they club finished bottom of the Premier League table.

The former Rangers youth player moved to Chelsea in 2017 as an exciting prospect and has featured 22 times for the first team.

He picked up a Champions League winners medal in 2020/2021 and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has always praised the Ardrossan man.

The London club have exercised an option in his current deal, which was due to expire next year, to keep him at the club until at least 2024.

It remains to be seen if Gilmour will be playing for Chelsea next season or sent out on loan again.
