Sammon hoping for lengthy Motherwell stay
The striker joined the Steelmen on loan from Hearts until the end of the season
Conor Sammon is hoping to put down roots at Motherwell after completing his sixth loan move inside four years.
The Irish striker will spend the final season of his three-year Hearts contract at Fir Park after joining on Monday.
Sammon made the last of his 22 appearances for the Edinburgh club in January last year, before being deemed surplus to requirements by then head coach Ian Cathro.
The 31-year-old has since spent time at Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle having had previous temporary spells at Sheffield United, Rotherham and Ipswich while contracted to Derby.
Sammon, who is looking to make his first Motherwell start in the Betfred Cup clash with Stranraer on Saturday, said: "It's my last season under contract so it's a huge opportunity for me.
"I need to have a good season here and show what I'm about, and hopefully stay longer than just the season.
"That's down to me and how well I do, how well I blend in with the squad. But it's a challenge I'm looking forward to.
"The experiences I have had at different clubs and how different managers operate, it is a real learning curve.
"When you are moving so frequently, it's not ideal. You want to get settled in a club, in an area with your family.
"I have learnt an awful lot but I would love to settle into a club and stay for two, three years as opposed to signing for six months or a season.
"That's my aim. I have signed for this season on loan and I want to take it game by game, do as well as I possibly can, and hopefully come the end of the season, everything will look after itself.'
